How to make Superhero Inspired Cakes
Equipment You Will Need
- FMM SUPERHERO TAPPIT
- FMM GEOMETRIC SET
- FMM DAB-A-DUST (IF REQUIRED)
- FMM KNIFE AND SCRIBER TOOL
- FMM WATER PEN
- NON STICK MAT & NON STICK ROLLING PIN
- WHITE, RED, BLUE, BLACK, WHITE AND YELLOW MODELLING PASTE
- WATER & PAINTBRUSH
- 9 CUPCAKES WITH BUTTERCREAM SWIRLS
Hints & Tips
- Always read the project sheet in full before starting your cake!
- To make your own modelling paste, add a little tylo to your fondant.
- Allow the modelling paste shapes to sit and firm up for a short time before attaching to your cake.
- If your modelling paste is sticking to your tools or mat use your FMM Dab-a-Dust for dusting with cornflour or icing sugar.
To Make Cupcake Discs
- Roll out the white, red and yellow modelling paste 3-4 mm thick each. Cut out 5 white discs, 2 red discs and 2 yellow discs using the largest circle cutter from the FMM Geometric Set. (Leave them to dry for 24 hours).
Zap!
- Roll out red modelling paste and cut out burst 1. Roll out blue modelling paste and cut out the word Zap! Attach the burst 1 motif to a white cupcake disc with water. Attach the blue Zap! with water to burst 1.
Pow!
- Roll out yellow modelling paste and cut out burst 2. Roll out red modelling paste and cut out the word Pow! Attach the burst 2 motif to a white cupcake disc with water. Attach the red Pow! with water to burst 2.
Bang!
- Roll out blue modelling paste and cut out burst 3. Roll out yellow modelling paste and cut out the word Bang! Attach burst 3 motif to a white cupcake disc with water. Attach the yellow BANG! with water to burst 3.
Spider
- Roll out black modelling paste. Allow it to dry off for a while. Once it feels dry on top cut out a spider. Attach it to a red cupcake disc with water.
Hazard
- Roll out black modelling paste and allow to dry, cut out the Hazard motif. Roll out yellow modelling paste and cut out the Hazard motif. Using the FMM knife and scriber tool cut out the inner sections of the Hazard motif in yellow and the small circle in the centre. Attach to the black Hazard motif with water in the correct place. Attach this to a white cupcake disc.
Bat & Lightning
- Roll out black modelling paste and cut out the bat motif. Attach to a yellow cupcake disc with water.
Hero Badge
- Roll out red, yellow and blue modelling paste. Cut out the Hero motif in red. Then cut out the motif in yellow and use the FMM knife and scriber tool to cut out the inner section of the badge. Attach to the red badge with water. You will now have a yellow badge with a red edge. Cut out the hero badge in blue. Rub over the word Hero with your finger in the cutter. This will cut out the word in blue. Release the letters from the cutter and attach to your badge in the appropriate area. Attach to a white cupcake disc.
